Miami-Dade
County is a diverse and vibrant community, as are the women
who live here. After more than 16 years as the only
gender-specific grant maker in Miami-Dade, Women's Fund
recognized the tremendous challenges we face with a void of
research data about the lives of women and girls in our
community.
Women's Fund is changing that.
On April 16, 2009,
Women's Fund of Miami-Dade presented the findings from
The Portrait of Women and Girls: Portrait of
Women's Economic Security in Greater Miami.
The breakfast presentation provided analysis and recommendations,
and Women's Fund's top priorities for our community.

The Portrait of Women's Economic Security combines data,
expert opinion and the real voices of women in our community
to capture the realities of women's lives in Greater Miami.
The Portrait explores critical issues and challenges and
sets forth recommendations for policy makers, funders, employers, activists, advocates and all
women who live and work in this community.
The Portrait specifically explores obstacles faced by women
in achieving economic security that are exacerbated by the
current economic crisis. To read the full Portrait of
Women’s Economic Security in Greater Miami and
