Every
year, members of the the
Women's Fund have the
opportunity to help select
Women's Fund Grantee Partners
for following year by
participating on the Grant Selection Committee.
As a member of the Grant Selection Committee
you learn about some of the most meaningful work
being done with women and girls in our community by
visiting the location of projects that have applied
for a 2009 Women's Fund
grant.
The time commitment to join the Grant Selection
Committee is approximately 12 -15 hours total during
October, November and December. That consists of one
orientation session, site visits to two or three
potential grantees in Miami-Dade County, and two
group meetings to discuss information gathered at
site visits and to evaluate potential grantee
partners. Some of the meeting times will be fixed in
advance but most will be flexible and planned around
your schedule.
We have scheduled two orientation/training sessions
on October 14 and 15. It is
MANDATORY
that all members of the Grant Selection Committee --
even veteran site visitors(!) --attend one of
these trainings.

All site visits will take place between October 15
and November 25. Site visitors will work in teams of
two or three people. Each team is part of a larger
workgroup consisting of three or four teams.
Workgroups will meet between November 10 and
November 25. The Grant Selection Committee will
discuss their final recommendations for funding at a
meeting on December 11, 2008 at 5:15 pm.
Being a member of the Grant Selection Committee (aka
site visitor) is one of the most sought after perks
of being a member of Womens Fund. You will qualify
to take part in this activity if you are a valid
member who has made a membership contribution of at
least $100 in 2008.
If your membership is not current, you must make a
membership level donation prior to October 14, 2008
in order to participate.
We encourage all new members to participate! Those
who have participated in past years have found this
to be a very unique, rewarding, and eye-opening
experience. One repeat site visitor has
characterized it as one of the highlights of my
year.
