Craigslist a hotbed for illegal sex acts
Company says its
‘casual encounters’ ads within law
Through coercion, abuse and imprisonment, as many as 300,000
American children – particularly girls – are at risk for being
commercially sexually exploited each year in our neighborhoods,
through escort services and online.
The
Gainesville Times reports on the promotion of prostitution
via Craigslist, referencing A Future. Not a Past’s Demand
Study measuring the demand that fuels the prostitution of adolescent
girls in Georgia.
While
the study was conducted in Georgia, trafficking is a global problem.
Florida is commonly known amongst law enforcement personnel to have
one of the highest incidences of human trafficking in the country.
In fact, Florida is commonly cited along with New York and
California as being one of the top three destinations for
trafficking victims in the United States. Victims of sex trafficking
typically wind up in large cities, vacation and tourist spots, and
near military bases, where the demand for sex trafficking is
incredibly high.
It’s
time to create a zero-tolerance zone for the commercial sexual
exploitation of our children and you can help. Join
A Future. Not a Past in taking action to protect our girls by:

to boycott Craigslist until they do more to block criminals from
buying and selling girls for sexual services on their site. Over 30
supporters of Women’s Fund have signed the petition.
