For over 23 years, The Women’s Fund has supported approximately 485 programs & organizations, impacting the lives of over 60,000 women and girls in Miami-Dade County through $3.7 million in grants. In the first half of 2016 we completed a strategic plan with the goal of shifting our programming focus to make a greater impact across our community. As a result, we’ll focus on one major issue at a time in a multi-year program, and concentrate on creating specific, measurable, systems-level change to really make a difference. We will also be identifying and working collaboratively with other community organizations because we know we can’t do it alone!
Our current grant-making cycle will end June 30, 2017 and we anticipating launching our new initiative at that time. Going forward, our community collaborations with other non-profits will continue to work toward systemic changes – at the grassroots and at the more global level. We plan to identify and partner with others working on these same issues. And we’ll create more learning opportunities to help all non-profits that serve women and girls become sustainable.
We will select one issue at a time, where there is real community need, a real opportunity for change, collaborators ready to partner, and funders prepared with support. We’ve already begun the process and will be working within the framework of economic security for women and girls. There may be opportunities for your organization to be a part of this process – and depending on the identified issue – to be a collaborative partner.
We’ll be seeking community input in the coming months through one-on-one meetings as well as community forums. Please let us know if you want to be a part of this exciting time of change for The Women’s Fund while making a community-wide difference for the women and girls in Miami-Dade County.
