I wouldn’t have a beautiful family now if I hadn’t had access to abortion
“Abortion is vital health care. If I didn’t have access to safe abortion at 21.5 weeks of gestation when I had a fetus with issues that were ‘incompatible with life,’ I would not have the beautiful family I have now, and my three beloved girls wouldn’t exist.”

Join your Women’s Fund for an enlightening virtual event, anchored in our Health & Well-Being pillar, as we bring healthcare professionals, advocates, and community leaders to delve into the critical issues surrounding abortion access and care.
Amidst Florida’s 15-week abortion ban and a looming 6-week ban, the repercussions are stark. Many people seeking abortions have been forced to travel long distances out of state to access care. Others grapple with the profound consequences of unwanted pregnancies, subjecting them to life-altering – and sometimes life-threatening – outcomes.
Additionally, in our Gender Equity Index: Health & Well-Being Policy Paper, this lack of access is also likely paired dangerously with the current maternal health crisis. Numerous studies highlight that women experience poorer health outcomes when denied abortion and reproductive care.
During this session, our panel of experts will share their personal and professional experiences, illuminating the importance of data, access, and human narratives in the ongoing fight for safe and accessible abortion care.
Mark your calendars for this Impact Collaborative, happening virtually, via Zoom Webinar, on Thursday, January 4, from 9:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m., as we unite to address the pressing issues surrounding reproductive health access and care in Miami-Dade and nationwide!
