Who We Are2018-09-07T11:11:53+00:00

Our Vision: A world where power and possibility are not limited by gender.

Our Mission: We create change for women and girls through action, advocacy, and investment.

Over 25 years, The Women’s Fund Miami-Dade has worked to improve the lives of women and girls by providing almost $4 million of funding to support almost 500 programs serving over 75,000 women and girls throughout Miami-Dade County. Moving forward, we will focus on creating change for women and girls through action, advocacy, and investing in key collaborative initiatives that generate sustainable impact in four pillars of economic mobility, leadership, health & well-being, and freedom from violence.

The First 25 Years

who we are the first twenty years

In 1993 in the wake of Hurricane Andrew’s destruction, a small group of dedicated women made a decision to transform the lives of women and girls in Miami. With just $5,000, they founded The Women’s Fund Miami-Dade and set out to fill the huge funding gaps in programs working with girls and young women.

Much of our work has been accomplished through our grant-making program, where we’ve jumpstarted, incubated, and supported other community organizations in their service to thousands of women and girls. To date, we have given out approximately $3.7 million in grants to 485 organizations and programs making a difference in the lives of 60,000 women and girls.

The Next 25…

who we are the next twenty years

We believe that substantial, far-reaching change begins right here in Miami-Dade. In our 25th anniversary year, The Women’s Fund is shifting programming and strategy to focus on key issues that will make a greater impact in our community. That’s why through collaborative research and effort, we are focusing on these four issues: Freedom from Violence, Leadership, Health and Well-Being, and Economic Security.

We’re proud of all we have accomplished over a quarter of a century, and we’re not leaving our heritage behind — we’re taking it to the next level. Now we’ll use those skills and take on other big issues, and change more women and girls’ lives.
