Don’t be scared, be prepared, According a Teen Survey Report from the National Alliance on Mental Health (NAMI):
64% feel the world is more stressful now than when parents were their age.
About 1 in 6 report experiencing negative emotions all the time or often.
Girls are more likely to say they are anxious or stressed out often, or all the time.
Parents? Guardians? Teachers, mentors, community-based organization program leaders, technologists… who’s responsible for keeping our children, especially young girls safe in the digital space? Answer: All of us.
One thing is certain, ignorance is not bliss. Do your part to prevent online shaming, manipulation, and abuse.
Not understanding the current and ever-changing virtual landscape that is part of our everyday life makes us feel impotent, and disempowered. But it does not have to be that way. Your Focus Is Our Power.
Join your Women’s Fund Health and Well-Being pillar Impact Collaborative on October 2nd. Engaging subject experts will share tools and demonstrate how safeguarding the mental and physical health of young girls in the digital age protects them from online violence, promotes their well-being, and empowers them to become economically independent leaders in their communities.
