The Women’s Fund Miami-Dade has launched Domestic Violence in Times of COVID-19, an extensive awareness campaign to let those who are experiencing abuse know that services are available 24/7, and to encourage them to escape, report, or seek the services they need.

The campaign is adapted to English, Spanish and Creole, and it includes roadside billboards, bus shelters, bus wraps, Metrorail stations and interior cards , as well as a digital and social media campaign.

Domestic violence is considered a public health and a safety issue. Lives are at stake and public education is a key component to providing pathways to safety for domestic violence victims, and preventing and ending violence in our community.

Billboards, bus wraps and all other outdoor advertising is costly. In order to raise the funds needed to continue with the campaign after July 2020, we’ve designed a custom Instagram filter to encourage people to post their picture and donate. You can help!

HOW THE FILTER WORKS

Just follow these five (5) easy steps:

1. On your phone, go to our Instagram page @womensfundmiami and click on the smiley face icon.

2. Choose the language you wish your message to be on. (We provide 3 mask options in each language –  Spanish, Creole and English)

3. Click “Try It” on the bottom left corner.

4. Tap the screen to choose one message from the three message options below. You can also switch between languages using the yellow circle icons at the bottom of the screen.

  • “If Staying Home is More Dangerous, Speak Up.”
  • “Speak Up Against Domestic Violence.”
  • “Domestic Violence. See it. Hear it. Stop it.”

5. Click the yellow circle in the middle to snap your photo and share! Remember that you can also download the photo to share it through other platforms.

Each post will encourage people to donate to The Women’s Fund Domestic Violence in Times of COVID-19 campaign before they use the filter and post.

To do so, you’ll use the caption to direct them to our Link in Bio where they’ll find the option to DONATE TO THE DOMESTIC VIOLENCE IN TIMES OF COVID-19 CAMPAIGN. The link will take them straight to our donate page.

Caption: use the text below as a guide. It is very important to share the helpline: 305-285-5900

“I just joined @womensfundmiami in their Domestic Violence in Times of COVID-19 awareness campaign to remind people trapped in abuse that help is available 24/7 by calling or texting 305-285-5900.
To help The Women’s Fund keep the campaign alive, click on their link in bio to donate. Once you donate, click on the smiley face icon on @womensfundmiami Instagram page, choose your face mask filter message and language, and share! Lives are at stake.”
